Hymenopterous parasitoids (Hym.: Chalcidoidea) of xylophagous beetles in Iran

چکیده
A survey was conducted in Iran, on xylophagous beetles, to collect and determine their associated chalcidoid parasitoids (Hym.: Chalcidoidea). Nineteen species of parasitoids are recorded. These species are from 6 families: Chalcididae, Encyrtidae, Eulophidae, Eupelmidae, Eurytomidae and Pteromalidae belong 4, 1, 1, 2, 4 and 7 species, respectively. Five species were discovered as new record for the fauna of Iran: Callocleonymus pulcher MASI (Pteromalidae), Eurytoma blastophagi HEDQVIST (Eurytomidae), Eusandalum inerme (RATZEBURG) (Eupelmidae) and 2 Chalcididae, Trigonura ruficaudis (CAMERON) and Trigonura sphenoptera NIKOL'SKAYA. A brief discussion of the biological information and distribution of each entry is given. Heydenia pretiosa FÖRSTER, Eurytoma blastophagi are recorded for the first time parasitizing Xylopertha reflexicauda LESNE (Col.: Bostrychidae) and Trigonura sphenoptera on an unknown buprestid beetle.

The parasitoids of the asparagus miner (Diptera: Agromyzidae): field parasitism and the influence of food resources on life history.
The goals of this study were to identify pupal parasitoids of the asparagus miner, Ophiomyia simplex Loew (Diptera: Agromyzidae), and examine the effect of different diets and floral resources on the lifespan of adult asparagus miners and their parasitoids. We also measured the effect of parasitism on stem damage caused by the asparagus miner. The identity and abundance of the parasitoids of th...

متن کاملDrought-induced positive feedback in xylophagous insects: Easier invasion of Scots pine leading to greater investment in immunity of emerging individuals
We studied the infestation rate of Scots pine Pinus sylvestris by xylophagous insects in relation to distance from forest lakes in eastern Latvia, northern Europe. In summers of 2008 and 2009, we felled 72 pines of approximately 65 years age. Sections of the logs were incubated in insect emergence traps. The trees located near lakes were significantly less infested by xylophagous insects than t...
